Directions: Travelling from Knysna or Mossel Bay (on the N2) Turn right at SWELLENDAM EAST turnoff, then take 2nd street on the left (Hermanus Steyn Street – No. 10 – 3rd house on your left). Same instructions apply, travelling from OUDTSHOORN on the R62 / Barrydale / Tradouw Pass (R324) onto the N2. Travelling from Cape Town (on the N2) bypass other turn-offs until you reach SWELLENDAM EAST turnoff, turn left, then take 2nd street on the left (Hermanus Steyn Street – No. 10 – 3rd house on your left). Travelling from Worcester or Robertson (R62) or Ashton (R60) Take the R60 to Swellendam. At crossroads at entrance to town, turn left into Voortrek Street and drive 3 - 4 km until you pass the shopping centre, and see the NG Church on your left. Turn right into Church Street, and take second street on left (Hermanus Steyn Street). We are at no. 10, on your right. |

Extras: We are one of the least expensive five-star establishments, and winners of international awards for the last 10 years. We are situated in a beautiful quiet and secure area in a side street (large vehicles are prohibited from using this street) close to the historical centre of town and close to restaurants. You'll be welcomed with a complimentary cup of tea/coffee, scones or whatever you'd like, and the area explained to you. (either Mark or Diana are always on the premises). We make restaurant bookings on your behalf and offer you complimentary lifts to and from the restaurant. You will be invited to join the hosts for complimentary wine tasting, and drinking, served with snacks (crisps, pecan nuts and other local treats) between 6.30 and 7.30 p.m. There are two bottles of port and muscadel in your room as well as a selection of cold drinks, beer and bottled water, all available at no charge if consumed on the premises. Tea and coffee facilities in the room with a choice of 3 different types of coffee, 3 different types of tea, 2 different types of sugar, Hot Chocolate, and a bowl of Diana’s famous shortbread biscuits. Free wireless internet connection with a private PC available for guests anytime. Complimentary belly button warmers, in case you forgot yours at home. Our breakfasts are considered one of the best in South Africa. During season our female guests are given a posy of roses from Diana’s rose garden which boasts 600 beautiful bushes. Personalised maps and directions to next destination. You're offered a special tour around the Bontebok National Park with the previous owner Adin Greaves - who's written a book on the Park - at a discounted rate. You're offered a free orientation trip around Swellendam and tour of Railton, the so-called 'Cape Coloured' suburb adjacent to Swellendam. Magazines and books available in rooms, and an extensive natural history library. TV lounge with DSTV. ( BBC, CNN, Sky Sports ) There are always fresh flowers in the rooms, and of course in the main house for some 8 months of the year, all picked from Diana’s extensive rose-garden. There will be added value for each honeymoon couple. We will ensure that we spoil you in a special way, suited to your own individual tastes. If you stay with us for more than two nights we will gladly do any washing that you have free of charge. |
